History

The Climate Pledge Fund was created in June 2020 to invest in companies that are working on technologies and services to reduce carbon emissions or promote sustainability. In December 2021, Matt Peterson, who is the director of corporate new initiatives, and Kara Hurst, who is the vice president and head of sustainability, were leading the fund.

Amazon is the sponsor that helped name the Climate Pledge Arena, a sports and entertainment venue in Seattle. The arena opened in 2021 and was built with environmentally friendly features. Its goal is to achieve net-zero emissions.
