The National Forest Foundation is a non-profit organization in the United States. It was established by Congress in 1992 to serve as the official non-profit partner of the United States Forest Service. Its goal is to help Americans take part in community programs that support the health and public use of the 193 million-acre National Forest System. The foundation gets money from Congress and also asks for additional support from private companies. The Forest Service is not allowed by law to seek funding from outside sources, but the foundation has been specifically allowed to do this job.
